För en rätvinklig triangel gäller: Den ena katetern i kvadrat plus den andra katetern i kvadrat är lika med hypotenusan i kvadrat.
En sida i kvadrat är samma sak som arean. Om man använder sidorna i en rätvinklig triangel och låter varje sida utgöra en sida av en kvadrat blir arean av de två kortsidornas kvadrater lika stor som arean hos långsidans.
Samma regel gäller för arean hos vilken skalenlig figur som helst, till och med älgar!

What does the square mean?
For a right-angled triangle: One catheter squared plus the other catheter squared is equal to the hypotenuse squared.
One side in a square is the same as the area. If you use the sides in a right-angled triangle and let each side form one side of a square, the area of the squares of the two short sides becomes equal to the area of the long side.
The same rule applies to the area of any scale figure, even moose!
Pythagoras' theorem is a2 + b2 = c2.
